From north, south, east and west on this planet, the animal world needs our help.
Whether they are hunted tigers in India or abandoned cats in Wales, dehydrated donkeys in Ethiopia or starving polar bears in the Arctic, animals are battling to survive in a rapidly changing world. They face huge challenges, whether they are posed by nature & a changing climate - e.g. 60 million people in China are being affected in 2010 by the worst drought in 100 years, rhinos in Africa in danger of dying out from lack of water - or the consequences of individual or collective human behaviour & attitude.
Many of us want to help. We want to do our bit and make life better for them, to improve things for them. Some of us feel a deep responsibility to do something for the animal world, to help them. And many of us have questions such as...
I want to help - but where do I start?
I can only do one thing - what difference can that possibly make on its own?
What differerence can one action make on its own?
It can propel you to take another!
One action by each of us is better than no action at all

So today you take one action - perhaps from our list of 101 things to do. You move along this line from no action at 0, to one action. Maybe you sign the petition Make A Noise to help stop the lengthy transport of horses around the world, often in terrible conditions. It takes a minute. You choose not to watch the video - it is very upsetting stuff - but you think, well, I could forward this on to my friends who love horses too. That's another action. You've done what you can - signed the petition & moved it on. Maybe you join a group on Facebook. All these actions add up - they show support to those who are spearheading the campaign and show that people care. Petitions need voices & they need noise. They are no good if one person alone signs up to them!
Or may be you simply sign the petition and close the window on your pc or laptop screen. Maybe as your second action, you choose to adopt an animal for yourself, or spend an hour collecting litter from the roadside to prevent wildlife eating it.
Suddenly, you're moving along the line, adding a number of actions together - all of which involve your volunteering with or for animals. You are making a difference.
You really can help animals around the world by taking one action. It can really have a domino effect in ways you never imagined!

It can be easy to take one action for the animal world - just make sure you mention what you've done to fellow animal lovers, because they may be inspired by your act to take action to help the animal world too.
The actions of people who are moved from caring to doing something mean that the animal world may be protected from poachers, have a home to live in that's safe in a protected area, be free from disease, may increase in number and so be less likely to become extinct. They may enjoy a better quality of life and be free from starvation, exhaustion, stress, hunger, thirst, human ignorance or neglect, as they are well fed and watered, cared for when they are sick, and when appropriate, properly attired in a harness which fits. And that's because people like you and me each took at least one action to help them. |
No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action always leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all dirctions and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindiness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves.
